Renovated Lower Level of Graham’s Tremont Youth & Family Center Opens

On June 3, we held the grand opening for the newly renovated lower level of our Tremont Youth & Family Center in the Bronx! Children, youth, and families have traditionally come here for family supports, health and wellness services, and SLAM coaching. Following our helpful help™ approach, we renovated the lower level to respond to what youth and families have asked for: a modern, beautiful space with a youth lounge and more offerings.

The revamped community space includes a Graham SLAM youth lounge, Ms. Millie’s Closet, a full kitchen, laundry facilities, shower amenities, and more. We plan to renovate the entire four-floor building in the welcoming style of the lower level as part of our Vision 2029 goal to offer more community-focused supports.

The lower-level renovation was made possible thanks to generous contributions from Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson, the Clark Foundation, the Renate, Hans, and Maria Hofmann Trust, and supporters of the Eliza Hamilton Legacy Campaign. We are so grateful for their support!

We were honored to be joined by special guests for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and celebration of the space, including Borough President Gibson, Assemblymember Yudelka Tapia, City Councilmember Oswald Feliz, Commissioner of the Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) Jess Dannhauser and Deputy Commissioner Ina Mendez, as well as representatives from New York State Senator Luis R. Sepúlveda’s office.

Guest speakers for the event included Graham President and CEO Kimberly Watson, Teanna, a Graham SLAM peer advocate, Commissioner Dannhauser, Assemblymember Tapia, and Borough President Gibson. Each speaker praised the new space as a welcoming and healing environment that will meet the needs of children, families, and community members, while also addressing the wellbeing of our staff.

Improving our physical community spaces helps contribute to a more cohesive, flourishing OneGraham culture for our children, families, and communities as well as our staff. We believe the enhanced lower level of the Tremont Youth & Family Center, with its spacious layout, bright atmosphere, and modern furnishings, will create an inviting setting where members of the Graham community want to spend their time and make connections.
