For Youth In Foster Care

In family foster care, children and youth live with loving foster families when their parents are unable to care for them.  Stays in foster care are temporary. Our job is to work with you and your family to determine together whether you can return to your family, be adopted by someone, or live permanently with a relative, to name a few options. We expect a lot from you while you’re in foster care – for example, you are expected to attend and do well in school, begin planning for your future and career, and participate in skill building workshops. We expect this of you because we know you can do great things, and we will help you get there.

Graham Windham’s job is to make sure that you have a strong, loving family and the opportunity to succeed in school and life. We have high expectations of you because we believe in you.

Your primary point of contact with Graham Windham is your case planner. The case planner is assigned to your family’s case and is focused on assisting you in reunifying with your family, becoming adopted, or finding another permanent family arrangement. You can talk to your Case Planner about what you need, and they can help you with any issues you are facing.  The Case Planner forms partnerships with you and your parents to develop action plans that will work specifically for you and your family.

Decisions about what is best for you and your family are made with your input. Your voice is important. You can and should weigh in on decisions by attending Family Team Conferences (meetings to talk about important decisions) and Family Court Hearings. You can also let us know at any time if there is something you need, and we will do our best to help.
